What he mention about Hip-Hop Pantsula not being a real seTswana rapper, was on point.

Paraphrase: Just because you take an English word and Tswanalize it, does not make you a motswana. "Rustenburg-ke, Lekker-re, elastic band-de..."

Word is wordsmith.

    true! true! true!

*but some argue that is the reason why nobody hears Tuks, coz he raps SeTswana proper.

  3. Nanometa

    I prefer Tuks than HHP.....

Tukz is a purist, phonetically/linguistically. I'm sure ol' folk love him as much as they love Stoan from Bongo Muffin. They are both preserving a language that has been watered down some over decades.

The Wu-Tang Clan's level of Ebonics can also be regarded as "pure" within the Hip-Hop community. Compare a Ghostdinni verse with Lupe' Fiasco's. Ebonics (from slave days) to that wannabe Hip-Hop bullshit that Lupe' is on.

    Rustenburg ka seTswana ke eng?

  6. lebogang nkoane

Rustenburg, is a name of a thing (an area). To tswana-fy, if you will, a name in another language is not speaking SeTswana.

Otherwise you might as well ask: what is Mpho in English? Of which most will reply: Gift. But, that doesn't mean you are going to call any person called Mpho, Gift. Gift is not their name.

Rustenburg-ke is not the name for that area called Rustenburg. Rustenburg is its name.

So, to answer your question: Rustenburg ka SeTswana is Rustenburg.

*but the French are crazy they translate your country/location name into French and they call it that. #colonialism.
