mad dope --- it reminds of a book cover of sorts --- and in way it's almost the visual for some book by Ngogi wa Thiongo (f7 that) [some Nigerian author, it'd say Fools and other stories, but I'm not sure].

    Mad fresh ---

    nina sum1

    ^^ ^
was Ngugi wa 'Thiongo in the Fools and other stories compilation? (is that what a book collection is called?)

  9. lebogang nkoane

    yeah ---

  10. æ

fools & other stories: njabulo ndebele

    ngugi wa thiong'o: kenyan

  11. lebogang nkoane

    I am corrected.

So, what book did ngugi wa thiong'o write? I just know I enjoyed the book,,,

  12. Bareng Rakuba

@ Lebogang, here is some useless info:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ngugi_wa_Thiong'o

  13. Bareng Rakuba

There's some list of books ngugi wa Thiong'o wrote there, dont know if u will find the one u read.

  14. lebogang nkoane

hai,,,, i think it was 'petals of blood'.

not sure, standard 8 (not grade 10) was a long time ago.

*will search for it when I move 'houses'.

  15. ntsasa

Lebo if it was in std8 it was The River Between. About the 2tribes on the 2sides of the valley, and the girls that hav2go2circumcision, and the whole modernisation debate. That the one?

  16. æ

yessir! the one tribe was kikuyu, I can't remember the other for the life of me.

in fact, the violence in kenya earlier in the year reminded me of that book

*keep confusing it with norman maclean's "a river runs through it"

  17. lebogang nkoane

ntsasa --- nope. I don't know that book: The River Between.

But, with old age, comes loss of memory. Petals of blood, is the only phrase I can remember having encountered in high-school years --- Fools and other stories is also another.

But, then I again, me and Literature are not good friends.

  18. Stefanie Jason

i'm looking forward to (finding)reading the "Wizard of the Crow"
    sounds very interesting

actually after reading "Decolonizing the mind" i thought that Ngugi gave up writting in English! (mmm who knows)

There are very few people who can get away with calling Lebogang 'Lebo'. @ Ntasa, you're the man - ... or woman! - .

Reminds me of my first walk to school by myself - some days you just don't forget.

THIS MADE MY DAY, Bareng Ta...

Oh, Lebogang, I like it when, like you love a photo and it asks you: "You Like?"...
