I was thinking if a lot of black people vote DA or not. I was thinking after the whole Obama effect, that we might start thinking differently about people...you know, look past the race issue and just vote purely on merit.

I was told that its too soon.

And it saddens me that people reckon its too soon. I suppose in my world, my experience of the American election gave me hope...and perhaps gave me a little bit of an idea of how the world could be if we were all to just drop the whole prejudice thang.

I'm not suggesting that it would be easy, but from the conversation that I had last night - it seems as though we have completely missed the point of the 'Obama revolution' and that we just don't want to let go of the past. It is fear isn't it.

I would have liked to think that we would alteast want to start letting go of the burden of it all. Atleast start? But not even that is happening.

I'm very sad.

great pic. sadly, in many places, like where they voted for obama, the past is the present. obama is one man. there are many black folks who can barely get through the day without racism weighing heavily on them, despite how much they attempt to neglect the past. yes vote on merit, but the past is not gone. just look around you.

I hear you HeartWarm.... Ok come down to reality, the nice lukewarm smiling faces in the office and a beatiful friday afternoon at some restuarant, sipping on some wine and ISH, dont make up for the 1000x people that experience racism daily...... For you to assume that Americans have reconciled, is just a wish.. Racism still exist and rive in areas in the USA. Americans are just tired of the Bush tyrany and policies that nearly bankrupt everyone..... It seems, mostly in S.A, blacks are doing their best to let go the past and give reconciliation a chance and sadly to be slapped back in the face by reality... Fact is: Most white people are not willing and not in their wildest dream wish to have black people as their neighbours, bro's, sister's or even inlaws....... I told myself to stop myself being a sympathetic character, honestly I am even more wary of a more friendlier white person, he/she wants something out of me.... My past has taught me so many lessons... Black people are only good enough for them, if there is something to gain out of them!!! P.S: Not everyone is bad, but it's rear to find one, to all that believe that balck and white people must co-exist in peace and harmony, much love to you all.

    Reconciliation is just another word.

If reconciliation means Black folk have to always agree to the White terms and condition, I shall not be a part of it.

Just look around you and you see that some White just don't want to change their mindset about/towards Blacks.

Oh deep in my heart, I do believe that we shall overcome some day......

listen to manifestos of all the parties, and vote for the one you feel will service you the best. You can never know for sure. Like any relationship, you take a chance, and hand over your trust, you can't predict the future.
