I shot this image on slide film with a water-houseing a while back; this is South African Surfing legend Ian Armstrong who is also my main SA surfboard shaper for over 5 years. Enjoy-
Kewl 'graf. The "Jared Aufrichtig" is ruining it though. It doesn't "feel" like a photograph anymore. It looks like design work...
Just saying.
Word is confront.
sorry brv, glad you dig it
This image is a neg. scan to digital and unaltered in photoshop,
I don't put my logo there for kicks; it is my work, art, and a lot more...
big up,
safe-
Really nice shot;
I just don't see what the real danger is in not having a watermark on a picture.
As long as people don't sell your work as their own; (would the resolution on downloaded pics from 75 even be big enough?) then whats the problem?
If I was gonna steal this picture, I can still do it, and just crop out the logo/ replace it with something else. I ditto what KOTN says.
My 2 cents
I have had many images ripped off from the web...
Also I get paid for my images most of the time in addition to pushing to have a consistent aesthetic and feel in my photography. It is like a tattoo for my images and its working well...
again I would be grateful if cats would discuss and critique the work not the other bs...
Big up, later-
EPIC
@?ALL: "... pushing to have a consistent aesthetic and feel in my photography...", isn't what we all trying to do, even if some of us experiment more than others? Do you believe that a watermark is the most effective way to achieve it?
By making your name so imposing you're making it a main element in the composition and aesthetic, so it will be difficult for anyone to make a solid critique of the work and ignore the watermark... my view is that the watermark is competing with the work for attention, it mixes the signs, it feels like a surf brand marketing strategy, it makes it look a bit commercial... that's only my opinion...
"It is like a tattoo"... do you believe that one same tatto can work for thousands of individuals, even if you put it in different areas of the body? Like with your photos, shouldn't it be about each one's personality and "feel"?

I am amped on the interactions and comments...
But come on, Just enjoy the images guys, please
Justifying my choices as a working photographer is not what 75.co.za is about....
I think you misunderstood my intentions...
I am shooting on more then 5 different formats with 4 different types of film but when people see one of my image they know its mine...
thank you for the input
big up,
enjoy-
can I be ambiguous about this? eeee - each to his/her own.
I am more interested in how you shot this and what you were using.
You said that you have 4 different formats? Do speak on that a bit more as well.
