Portraiture[1]

I've been working on candits for a while now. Although I'm not a believer yet. I've never been great at capturing people. So, you'll let me know if I shouldn't quit my day job.

Technically, this isn't a candit because I took it for a job I was doing that was supposed to recall Sophiatown and the feeling of Jazz. I was actually trying to reproduce a 1950s DRUM photograph of Dolly Rathebe. The Graphic I presented was in colour, and included a mic [shoutout to heartwarmer]. But when I was retouching the photograph on the Red Channel, I thought the black & white take had legs. And I was taken by that look in her eyes.

And I wanted to put up a female subject without subjecting you to "jugs" (although something tells me you wouldn't mind). Oh and Rudzani, the border wasn't working here either. I like how it bleeds into the space.

Could we get some red lips?
    i dig - somewhat!

Honestly, I wouldn't have asked for a border because the background is not part of the photo so to say. It works well here as it is. I would like to see more of this because it is quite good.

So, umbadu; you'd "dig fullwhat" with red lips?
    I'll settle for the "somewhat"
