So, three weeks have now gone past, I have manage to stabilise the 'system' so to speak, and the project is growing, big up to the 'rock stars', rock-on!
Alas, now it's time to evolve, to add more water and minerals to the germinating seed, start working on version, beta, as in 'second version' or rather in my mother tongue, SeTswana, 'ya bobedi'.
The primary focus will be 'redesigning the interface'. It works as it is, but it's too rigid to add new stuff, and if I have learnt anything from 'branding', I need to blend the 'brand' with the actual application.
The other improvements will include the following;
- Favourites. I don't quite like this word, I'll will probably go with, 'dope'. That is to say if you think a photograph is dope, you make it known, if don't think so, you don't.
- Help. A more robust help system will be built in context, so if you have a problem, the possible answer will be in context to where you are.
- AJAX. I have always felt AJAX should be built in after the traditional way of working with an application is solid. So, there will be Ajax everywhere, to shorten the steps of doing something, if that makes sense.
- Knowledge sharing. I am not sure if this might be pre-mature, but Sizzla, did mention that he wanted to have discourse with other photographers, as in share information on how such and such a photograph was captured. I also would like to add a possibility where we could discuss photography, form equipment to morality, and everything else in between, maybe get professional photographers to share their two cents?
- Original. Since Khumbelo, has posted a photograph that is wider than 600px, it is now imperative that I set this up, so panoramic photography can still be viewed in their original glory.
- Essays. I prefer this word, than saying,'topics'. What I think essays would be, like, err, projects, assignments, were photography 'related' to the topic of the essay are captured and submitted, simple huh?
I think, that's about it, the major changes will be in the 'back-end' of things. I might just add the ability to view the site, on a mobile device, but my 'stats' don't show a greater usage of that. I am not exactly sure if I am capable of making it possible to post directly from your cellphone, I'll have to 'research' that first.
Alas, if you think I a missing something let me know, leave a comment with your ideas, thoughts, or send it by mail.
Word.
