Things to do and make

Hello!

Now that the year has begun and we are back in full swing, I think we can then start planning "things to make and do" (c) Moloko.  The following are ideas I have, your input on them or others is desperately needed, ;-)

Themes:

I am thinking we need to formalise this, that is to say, at the least every month we should have either a single day (or a week) of a specific theme: the following are the ideas I've had, borrowed from last year.

1. Hands: I think we need to do this first, I suggest we do it on the 27th of January).
2. Black and white week: not sure if we should repeat it on the same week every year, your thoughts?
3. In the bag: this a theme stolen from Flickr (forgot the url): essentially its about posting a photograph of what its your bag: handbag/backpack/camerabag etc...
4. Portrait: be it self portrait or somebody else
5. Landscape Week: this was suggested by Loymad.  The core idea is to post/upload photographs of the South/African landscapes be it rural, urban, metropolitan for a week.  I think a week for this is a better idea?

and I think, I am tapped out of ides for themes.

Meetup's

I am also thinking of 'meet ups', where we can meet in person, be it in jozi/capetown or durban (okay, i don't know anybody on 75 is from Durban, but a man can dream, no?).

But, instead of just meeting up and consuming some beverages, I am thinking we can do 'photography' meetups.  With this I am hoping I can twist somebody's arm from the Bombela Consortium to grant 75 'graphers to photograph different sites of the 'Gautrain Construction'.  That is what I'll try to work on and get it done.

If you have other ideas let us know?

edit:

I have altered how a photograph is viewed. If the photograph is most likely to be in 'landscape size' it is seen larger by default.  Let me know what you think, if it doesn't work, I'll revert to the old one.
