    LOL!

no apology needed --- BUT, it would be interesting (considering the repeated need for 'put them in book') if we could compile a book --- i'd hate to be the only person, into 'drive by shootings' (the good kind, anyway).

    1ove, shot.

My feeling on drive by shootings is that you are placing the subjects in the same situation as you would animals at a game park.

The photographer feel safe inside their steel cage, whilst the subjects are being viewed through the lens.

or maybe, we/i prefer not to intrude --- or it's all down to composition.

I 'capture' what I see and only what I want to remember.

Being close and personal, with the subject, has never inspired me to press the shutter.

    different folks/graphers, different (wide) angles?

ps: and I never photograph animals --- never like Mandela in 94.

True, but then you have become a stalker... how would you feel about someone taking your image and not approaching you?

I know you said you were shy, think about how they might be?

It's not a bad thing, just something to remember

all photography is intrusive, especially the type that pretends it isn't
    daniel
Agree, but there are levels of intrusive. As a society we expect to have our image taken on the various CCTV cameras, but feel differently when someone snaps our shots from far.

If you explain the situation, people are more open to having their space invaded, rather than a telephoto approach.

    As Lebogang said, different folks...

i think that sometimes, when a photographer breeds familiarity with his subject, he/she can assume too much about the kinship that he and the subject enjoy. sometimes. thus, whilst the photogrpaher may have intended to be sincere (with his politeness), the result can be patronising.

    i think. maybe. yes
