pula! haene

pula! haene

this image was taken at a place called mashoro. mashoro is an otherwise obscure village in limpopo, located deep in the hills of bolobedu. it's real claim to fame - it's real power - is to be found in the fact that it "houses" ditaolo tsa pula, modjadji's rain making artifacts.

for the first time in nearly three hundred years, the balobedu have installed a male monarch. the lineage of modjadji ended in 2005 with the death of makobo. perhaps that may explain the incessant rain we've had in the highveld over the last four weeks.
