A Wu Strike

A Wu Strike

International students are getting fucked by the The Wu system.

—Off-campus Res' are gonna get demolished to make way fro a hotel for 2010.—That means more students (esp. the disadavantaged students) won't have a place to stay next.

—The Wu is cutting down on the number of BA students [(This is tied to the 2010 Hotel. A lot of people are enrolled for BA degrees - nobody can afford to fail(which is a good thing, pressure)]

— international students' annual tuition is getting a 300% increase.

—2004: R31,000—2007: R61,000 —2008: 300% do the math.

The police fired rubber bullet at students on West Campus. As far as I know,,, nobody got hurt. Classes are being disrupted, I'm supposed to be in a lecture right now. infact I can hear them thoi-thoing downstais.

The is fucked up. It trying to leave high education for the adavantaged. Any student who tries to get a bursary for next year will get screwed, why? How many bursaries (esp. within BA degrees) give sponsorship for R100,000. Also it is cutting down on the average joe Mokoena. who is of average intelligence so he passes with average marks (55%).

The SRC is fighting a loosing battle. They we're given a report back from the Vice(dickhead)Chancellor. The Chancellor did not agree to any terms. One good thing about the strike is that it is legal strike not some wild cat gathering. The students are therefore in a better position to negotiate. The SRC president got arrested yesterday during the shooting!

this just in: I just got kicked out the the computer labs...

i just got awarded a Bursary worth R150something thousand by CIT:Y Festival 2007 last night...to go study someshit at City Varsity for three years...thats dope...but do i really wanna go back to school...? I'm not sure...(wish i can exchange it for the money...)

You can, exchange it for money, let me show you how.

Subtract the actual tuition costs. Then use the rest to pay rent. Then quit your job, be a student/freelancer. Any money you make out that is yours to do what ever you want at any given time.

Oh, you might have to pass each year just to proceed to the next year (read: next cheque).

    Word.

hmmm, maybe...if i do that i get +-42grand for rent and what eva i want...
