03 Road Tripping Mozambique

Solving: 1+2

is easy.

Proving that: 1+2=3

is not so easy.  The problem is not understanding what the symbols 1,2 and 3 are, but understanding what the '+' does to the '1' and '2'.

But, once that is understood, 1+2 can be anything you want it to be, as long as the definition of '+' is understood.

ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha... I've seen this picture so many times... the skinny brother and the big white woman... it's classic... almost timeless

*excuse my shallow view of this but I can't myself.

Lebogang: it is al the same, you also have to define what the symbols 1,2 and 3 also mean. You are right they can be anything, so can + & = be anything as long as we define what + & = mean. All symbols and WORDS need defination because words too are symbols to transmit meaning.

I am enjoying the series by the way. (Eh, why has the negative not been properly cleaned before scanning!!?)

@ Lebogang..........I am lost now, think Rudzani put it better.

    Makhaya, that's kewl.

Rudzani --- it is not all the same, and I am however pressed with a deadline for this afternoon and I am not of sound mind to present a counter argument.

But, the gist of my argument would be: we generally agree or disagree on what the statements are before we can argue what the implied (or required to be proven) conclusion would be.

Oh, and it's not film I scanned, but the photograph itself --- I do not know how I would scan film, care to share?

Bareng, it's okay --- I rarely intend for my words to make sense to anybody else, but I write them with the hopes that one day I will come back to them and reflect --- like a secrete code.

Oh, I see what you mean in term of scanning. I had the same problem of dust while trying to scan prints. I only scan negatives now. You get better results. There are many flatbed scanners that can do both the normal stuff and negatives. It has to be able to shine light through the neg. e.g Canon 4400F. Last year Sep it was about R 700. There are also dedicated negatives scanners (for both 35mm and 120mm). The prices varry from affordable to very expensive. Email me ASAP about it if you are interested.

Rudzani: ta for the tip --- reshufling my budget --- scanning negatives is now my new 'obsession' --- time to revive that old camera and go hunting.
