Yep — it is official, this camera's lens is effed — by random strangeness, I met a dude (who sells photographic equipment; let me know if you need his details) who said:
… the minute Canon released this camera's lens, they stopped producing it, knowing that it is a defect — he recommends I buy another lens and I will appreciate the visual difference.
I think I will do that — I think lenses like car tires you don't skimp on quality.
