when we were kings

when we were kings

i didnt seek permission to capture and further place this pic online from the people in it. an apology wont make a difference-it will probably make me look even more guilty. if so, i must stress that they were asleep and i had no reason nor compensation to provide should i have woken them up. im kind of ok with taking pics of people in public, but homeless people, i tend to be more cautious, because their home is what we consider public areas and we therefore do not offer them any privacy. maybe one day, ke tla fumana a space to not only show but comment on society and its ills with photography...that night was so cold. my hands were shaking taking this pic, and here were two people so exposed to the cruel wind, with all their belongings exposed for us to see..

It is a beautiful photo, Makhaya. More beautiful than that is the fact that you have a soul.

    Beautiful
I do wonder about that statement, "when we were kings". I know it was meant to inspire dignity in a people that were so stripped of it. I wonder if it helps in bringing people back to themselves.
