ha ho lumelisoa marena*

i havent been this excited since february, 11 1990.

today we dont know the future but the euphoria is enough to make us look forward to another day in this heavy world, during these heavier times.

* the photograph is of the Dimpho Di Kopane cast perfoming "The Mysteries" this shot from "The Creation"-God and the Arc Angles. Some folks initially disagreed with a black man playing the role of God (and Arc Angels) and walked out of the theatre in the first showings....

Hegel: "to be truly free the slave must not only break the chain; he must also shatter the image in both his and his former master's mind."

wasn't going to say much --- but i've marinated the thoughts a bit:

"he must also shatter the image in both his and his former master's mind." -- I agree with this, somewhere far Away*, I wrote about that.

BUT, why is it the responsibility of the 'slave' to change the masters perception of him/her --- shouldn't the master do that on their own? what if the master refuses to be 're-educated'.

*but, I apologise if this is not the time, nor place, to be asking such questions, I've been warned before.

lebogang (if you get to read this)-i also agree. its extremely unfair, but i cannot imagine the master will change automatically after having slaves, to seeing them as humans. what obama had to go through was much more than mccain. he has to still perform double duty-because we're always seen as not there yet. always having to prove ourselves as if we're guests in this world. thats why i put it with this pic, because the same people with master mentalities, thought it highly incorrect that a black man play a role of supreme leadership.

its like we are ok with the idea of oppression from the master. silly expressions like "is america ready for a black president" perpetuate the notion that racism is ok. and when the master changes-if he/she ever does, then the master is applauded and quickly forgiven for all his ills. sad...
