I do wonder why this pic came out with the light splattered about!

was there a candle or light on the table?
oh. and light travels.
Travel to where, Jaz? Explain the techinal details, please Nina. I like the patternit makes!
Beam me up!
Nice 1!
yah, that light sure makes it interesting, nice take.
nice one nina.
there was no electricity at bree yesterday n all the stalls were lit with candles. it was a refreshingly beautiful sight, i must say.
dope!
@ Rudzani is that Q about technical difficulties directed at me?
if so... i dont know iddish about the technical side of photography!
not to mention terms like apature and focus(LOL)!
i think i took a dark room course in uni.- but im not of fan of the dark- so i dropped it the next day.
Nina --- I suspect the light came out like that because the 'time value' (or is it exposure) was high --- in simple English: what I'm trying to say is: your lens was open, for a longer time, say 4 seconds.
In that 4 seconds you probably moved the camera up and down, and then focused on your subject(s) --- and because there is more light from the 'light source' --- it 'burnt' the film so to speak with the 'line' --- but your subject(s) were not well lit --- but because the lense was open for longer, the little light they had, manage to 'make an impression' on your 'film'.
Something like that, Ru & Bra Dan can detail it further.
^^^wow^^^
i need to read this again for clarity, lol
don't make fun of a guy with dyslexia --- it's a condition.
*dyslexia nonymous.
LOL!
@ Seila
word is bond! thats why i was hesitating to reply
didnt wanna sound like a fool
@ lebogang! You are not dyslexic!
seilatsatsi: if we still on tomorrow --- I'll show you what I mean.
*light bulb moment.
maybe we should get Ru, Bra Dan, Twiggle (and all the other pro 'graphers) to school us a little bit, we call it (drumb roll): 75th Class (wait, that's kind wack, i'll think of a name).
We get like Canon/Nikon(whomever) to provide the technical equipment and we rock-photography-hard.
*dam it, I need name, I need a name, can't be creative without a name!
yeah we still on LN, when n where?
Yay, (dancing)
don break a leg, lol
how did ya do it?
lilji read LN's explanation n maybe u might gt it. lol
Yoh!
@ Lebogang's explanation.....................lol.
i love it.
Ru -- Science was never my forte (read: I sucked at science).
From what I can recall, light can be said to be made up of energy -- packets of energy (photons). These packets move from the light source in a stream, and at a very fast speed. So, light will travel in this stream until its path is blocked. That doesn't mean that it doesn't continue to move though.
Eish. Light is energy. Energy is not static. It is therefore difficult to capture something in motion if your aperture is open for too short a time. The subject will be a blur - whether your subject is a moving object -- or light. (I think -- the technical details I leave to the experts).
after an illustration by LN i can now say i fully understand.
