BTW did you know that Afrikaans was started by the slaves in the Cape,
it came about as a creolised Dutch. The Khoi, the San, (who were intertwined with the Xhosa) the slaves from Indonesia, Madagascar and the Portuguese Melayu dialect all played their part...
They have only recently included this part of the history at the Taal Monument, and
not only the "white" nationalist Afrikaner history;
which could be seen as the "light at the end of the tunnel", like in this pic!
