this is an amazing pic...very confrontational...I see all of her! Sometimes its overwhelming to look at a human being so close @noid good luck hon! beat them at their own game!

    nina sum1

    Lovely pic...love the dimensions

gotta ask y u felt the need to mention her race?
    (is Indian even a race?)

    daniel

Nina, that's something i've noticed since being back here. I know it's not meant as a bad thing, but everyone includes the race factor before the description, so

    indian woman
    white guy
    black lady

i've only ever seen it happen here, i don't know if it's embedded into the culture, but it's interesting to see it being used by every racial group, in most cases.

    blak unicorn

race is something thats so definitive in this counrty and the problem I have is why dont people see it as a celebration of who you are...being whatever race you are?? Why is it negatively perceived to mention who you are??I think its time that we started celebrating those differences instead of trying to paint such beauty with a broad and homogenous brush! indulge your cognitive states...

    beautiful snap!

@ Daniel & Blak- i feel what both of u are saying- and i totally agree
-only in SA will people have the audacity to ask "what are u?" unashamedly... like u were some type of alien!
    its sad but true

that makes me wonder: Are SAns the most racist bunch out?

i mean with issues like black division, ethnic classification and the inclusion of the race "Coloured"
    (WTF is really real?)

    blak unicorn

and when they say what are you...greatest come back is to belt out your totem loud and proud...we arent that bad, its because we have such high expectations of ourselves we fail to realize that patience and time are the two things we arent affording ourselves...dont forget we didnt have a civil war which is a way of cleansing deep seeded hurts...when blood spills, its a sacrifice that wont be forgotten, it is psychological like that, thats why 'white people' are so pissed off that their blood is spilling because of crime, which is a symptom of the hurt from APARTHEID, the blood spilling is affecting them...dont get me wrong, I'm not an advocate for war but this is the reason why mozamqmbiqueans are not adversative to violence

Racism is a norm in South Africa ... Without it we have nothing to fight for ... and it applies to blacks to Tswana dnt like Pedi's Venda's dnt like Tsonga People, so as the Nguni people, Coloreds and the Bushman go with who ever is greener - BUT they probably the most ignored people in this country in terms of legislature and service delivery ...

All this because we have not found our purpose as nation regardless of race ... That's why me and the ANC will never agree on anything ... "flipping hypocrites" ... them and their short term plans ....

I propose a boycott to the next elections ... Desolve the government and re-right the CONSTITUTION and some policies that have been passed over the years must be disregarded and re-done ...

    i agree with your plan!
    but who will rewrite it?

@ Blak. u say "and when they say what are you...greatest come back is to belt out your totem loud and proud..."
    ^ ^ ^
my issue with this is why should we be defined by what we are categorized as?

  4. loymad

diggin the pic... I find it's ok to mention the race thing if it's integral to the story as bra Dan's mention in the tag but I hate it when people use it unnecessarily. "There's a black guy at the door" "The white lady behind the counter".

We are all different - fat, thin, tall, short, dark, pale - and race is another thing that makes us physically different but it doesn't imply any predispositions (except my love for the versatility of chicken). We live in a time when even your skin colour doesn't really have anything to do with your culture. Race is a physical feature, not a character.

    blak unicorn

    loy I'm with you...its physical
Nina...cant know who you are if you dont know where you are from girl!
You know the thing that I've learned is our generatio protests so much for freedom that we dont even realize how free we are...that category is nothing but a stalemate, take your totem and make it relevant to who you are today...not because you are black, but because you are Nina

to quote Talib Kweli: if we tore this system down what would we build in it's place?

A constitution does not require a re-write unless you have a new re-write in place --- A constitution is not something you can write over a few beers -- A constitution represents a People, not the subculture. You can go to Con-Hill and demand a sitting with the judges to re-write the constitution, and you will be granted a hearing (such is the power of the constitution, it allows the same people that it servers to question it).

Boycotting elections does not mean people who oppose your views won't vote. It does not mean the countless supporters of any party, organization, person, club, association won't vote because you are not.

In fact boycotting the elections does not render the constitution null and void, the opposite will happen --- those you don't want in power, will have the power to re-write it.

Back to Talib --- the ANC, DA, PAC, IFP, [insert acronym] have a 'system' they want to run the country --- it's easy to say this [acronym] is effed up --- but what do you have to replace it? Moreso whatever you have, does it represent what the people want? Can you say with certainty that YOU have a constituency and not a counter/sub-culture you belong to.

[How ever, I am looking into making an election 'null & void': I've heard rumours that there has to be a minimum of the 'potential voters' that need to vote to make the elections count.]

*still, reserving comment -- I think I come out militant, I don't like that side (although it pleases my alter-ego) coming out in public.

    blak unicorn

you know what Lebo N, wouldnt it be great to have these pics and comments on display, say an exhibition! I think it would rock!!

  8. yizzi25

    aha!
@Blak unicorn, you think like me,
i think you should be very proud of your self, really! (* no offence ofcourse)
    or is it vice-verca? lol

ANYWAYS --- Look, maybe we should organize some sort of exhibition for 75 one day and have them pics + comments displayed ?
But then we would need to create the necessary "hype" before that can take place---

okay, if you don't like the idea, please don't crucify me,--- these are just my personal thoughts. although completely coincidental wit Blak Unicorn's .

    * craves for Coke + chocolate.

  9. lebogang nkoane

I don't enjoy being referred to as "Lebo N".

    blak unicorn

hey those are my initials too!:)

    daniel

An exhibition would be tight, we could even include some of the top comments per image.

  10. NguJaz

some people use race as a descriptor. Any place in the world with a varied racial population uses race as some kind of prefix; and it generally carries no connotations. I don't mind it so much as long as we don't use it as a precursor to attach connotations to the subject we're describing.

this however, is a powerful shot noid

  11. noidSyStems
