Hey Lebza
The first meeting was held tonight, so some extra details here.
There are a whole stack of events planned over the next 5 or so weeks. Details here:http://community.help-portrait.com/events/event/listByType?type=codp
They are aiming to capture 5000 portraits, and they have someone who is willing to print them at R7 a pop. So they need R35000 to print them all. They have asked for donations - from photographers, friends, corporates, etc.
They also need physical help with gluing of the prints onto cardboard backs - which they are getting kids to decorate - so if you know someone at a school who has kids who want to help, that kind of assistance is also needed.
Images, once shot, can be edited and handed CODP on a CD or memory stick. Resized to 6"x 8"(or something like that) at 300ppi.
They need all kinds of help - makeup for the portraits at old-age homes, general volunteers, and obviously photographers.
The shoot planned for the Africa Food Foundation, for example, involves portraits of something like 600 kids, so the more involved in the project, the better!
Guys, if you can do shoot during the week, for an hour or two, please please please!!! come help!! I did 2 shoots on my own this week because there were not enough volunteers, I have one in Soweto (Nancefield) Friday afternoon, if anyone wants in, contact me on redsatin.w@gmail.com
Giving back... the biggest gift you can give yourself!
