Hey 75ers. I've created a FB group for those interested in Afrikaburn 2013. This is obviously a long term project, and joining doesn't mean you commit to going, but I'd like to encourage as many of you to join up so that by next year we can have a sizeable posse.
The Group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/75Burn/
Check my recent photos for some Afrikaburn shots.

I thought this comment by Buchu would be more appropriate here and not on my photo.
"This is a great shot, she's beautiful and well done... however (now this part is probably going to make sure I become very unpopular and don't get any <3's on 75 for a while) I don't like Afrika Burn at all. Admittedly I have never been but read my reasoning anyway...
I think it's elitist, it pretends to be progressive and inclusive but actually its a bunch of middle class (in Cape Town the middle class is mostly white) hippies, hipsters and yuppies who think going into the desert for a few days tripping to rave music and whatever else they play is somehow an enlightening experience. To get there you have to have your own car or at least access to a car... and not everyone does. They say it's all about sharing, creating, being part of a community, etc but why don't they rather focus on building communities where they live?
And why is it so expensive to get it in, if you have to 'create' the festival?
At the end of the day there is nothing 'wrong' with it but I don't see anything right either."
I agree with Buchu and share the same sentiments. I love the art part of the festival and dig the ideas of sharing and skill swapping. It must be cool to live in a Utopia even for a little while. (if you have the money to pay for it)
I do feel its exclusionary on levels of class and ultimately race though and this is why I've never wanted to go.
it may sound like a broken record but until things continue to stay the way they are or under the guise of change continue to do what they have always done, it is worth every mention.
if its not a battle of race, its consequentially one of class.
I'm with Greer and Buchu.
