please forgive for my ignorant critiques
but ... if something is wack, does one have to 'sugarcoat' the feeling (albeit subjective)?

TBH, i think this is wack! for two reasons:

firstly, the lighting is wack --- perhaps, its got to do with the vantage point of the 'grapher at the time of capturing this and secondly, because of the 'busyness' of things happening in the background, with nothing left for the mind to focus upon.

anyways, it's just my personal judgement,

i like it — yeah sure the pillar could have been composed/cropped better; 1-3º rotation clockwise (because I like my photography in that mathematical perfection type of way); but i like how the lighting (or lack of it) makes the girl the focus; and in doing so gets me to study the detail of what she is doing.

if the room was filled with light, the details of everyone would over-shadow the girl: i wouldn't have noticed her bent knee.

*ps, don't sugar-coat your opinion otherwise what the hell are we doing here on 75 if we are capable of sharing our worlds but we are not willing to accept the diverse interpretations of those worlds?

    Thanks for the comments.

@Yizzi25 Low light is what i like. As it is, I wanted to get the outlines of the faces of the two people in the foreground. Stopping down makes the woman in the background (the focus of the photo) stand out, I left enough light to have some colour on her but the goal was to get a strong outline of her features.

The business... well its kind of what drew me to the scene. Conversation in the front, conversation at the bar, and yet the woman in focus is reading. I liked that contrast.

@Lebo, The angle was unintentional. But I do like the way it intersects with the direction of the gazes of the two in the foreground.

This is what I'm talking about, it's not about sugar coating, it's about honest feedback! Shapp!
