Pemba is a Mozambican city, county town and provincial capital of Cabo Delgado. Until 1976 the city had the name of Port Amelia. According to the 2007 census the city has a population of 141.316 inhabitants [1].
The city is situated off the Bay of Pemba, commonly considered the third largest in the world in its south bank.
