Makhulu

Life can bbe roughly divided into two parts: a time with her and a time after her. She was over a hundred. Yet the time after is still as full of her as before. A personal photo while I pack my bags for a year ouutside Mzanzi.

if you have to live to 100 -- life's bound to knock you around. one hundred. not twenty-five. I know people that can't even imagine 30.
There's this intensity in her stare. A sharpness in the gaze, you know?
Why you leave us so soon Ru?

I am off to the UK (London) for a year of study. If this site doesn't crash,(sorry Lebogang:-)) I will still come in often. And yes, well sported, blogsta, she was tired. Two weeks before she went the way of all flesh, she reiterated how tired she was and how much she was looking forward to her rest. In essence she gave the life up willingly.

The way she is staring, reminds me of my grandmother. It was June 2001 when my grandmother did somenthing that she never did before.....visit for a month.

She said she wanted to spend time with us cause you never know what might happen. I ended up skipping college for two weeks just to be with granny. We would sit and talk and religious as she was she would share with me words from the bible. One night when all of the family was sitting i said to her, ' When i buy a house i am going to build a room especially for her'. In response she gave me a strange eye and said, 'Mina ngizobengikuphi wenna mawakha indlu'. I just looked straight at her eyes and said nothing. She looked and i think she suspected that i am trying to understand why she would say that. A few week later she past away. RIP Gogo Nkambule. May we all appreciate the elders give them respect and grasp and blessings from them. RIP Makhulu
