Flower Girls

Flower Girls

Innocence

Vhakoma curses out aloud

And scowls at the heavens in vain

While young Mpfari skips down the road

Her laugh mingling with the rain

I wrote this long ago in high school. I am still touched by the innocence of children and wish we could sace some of for them for adulthood.

You know, I haven't as yet figured how to write anything such that it looks the way you want. Line 1&3 don't actually rhyme while I wanted Mpfari's laughter to be mingle in a rhyme with the futility of "vain". It didn't quite work, but it was some time ago:-)
