I am thinking of taking time to look back over my learnign experience by posting things only taken some time ago.
i can never be able to choose between your shots of people or buildings. equally genius. this is so beautiful. a classic.
WOW! i really like this
Nice shot... but it saddens me how we've rejected our own culture and adopted the western... at the rate that we're going African cultures will be extinct within a few generations...
If it is really all about survival of the fittest I think it's easy to tell who's winning the cultural evolution.
or You can change that trend. You can start living the culture we are loosing, speak it, drink it, sleep it, do it all, leave nothing to chance.
Or, or, or --- in the words of Sun International advert: take what you need and leave everything else behind.
*looks for SeTswana books.
Yep... true dat... I do live my culture as often as I can... I don't eat standing up because I respect my meal... I call my elders at work Bhuti and Sisi... I speak isiXhosa as often as I can... I'm even looking to write a book based on southern African Mythology but that's a story for another day.
My leaving thought... "Na phelel'aphi miiful'ayizolo, yiminyak emithathu mehlomadala, yiminyaka ndlela ziinga dibani sa phelelaph' isintu?"
damn this is beautiful.
ah, that is good my friend, that is good --- i'm trying my own SeTswana thingy magic.
that reminds, me, need to go edit my tags for today's post --- gotta add SeTswana where I can remember what the words for the objects, eish.
*care to translate that, pwetty please?
Beautiful!
Ru is that Mkhize?

Rudzani this is some cool stuff I like.
Stix. Tha indeed is her!
I love this photograph. But like you all; I'm disappointed in how we've intergrated these traditions.
What does it mean anyway? This whole garter off the leg affair?
I was taught that it was disrespectful for a man to sexualise (there isn't such a word is there? mara if you translate it -- it makes sense *evil grin). The sentiment is that a man does not sexualise his woman in public.
In private -- hai ke, in private game on
beautifulll pic ru!
