Greenpoint

Sometimes I am really scared of a country that seem to take all their hopes and hang them on a single number - 2010. I am skeptical of all the words of hope and promise. Me thinks there is going to be very little for the ordinary man on the street to chew on. The rich of course will have a lot to celebrate and to gain. Despite the darkness I see the construction site waves at me as I watch it from the V&A.

    true Ru! (chuckle at rhyme).

I for, one, have my dreams set for August, 2010. (I have no ambition to coin and/or make anything during that period, except just watch the games).

But, ja --- 1 month of euphoria, then what? I guess if we are truly South/African we shall continue on.

People love dreaming,we love hanging onto ideals and 'what ifs'...i would hate to call it false hope. But after 2010 we'll find another dream, another date just to make us feel like we apart of something in the greater scheme of things

*i dont like soccer, but im sure its bigger than the game

This is an awesome shot Rudzani!

Our country needs a cause to unify it!
Causes like 2010 fever is bringing us together, the closer we are the more we believe in Ubuntu.

This country's new democracy is founded on hope. More than anything - HIV/AIDS, poverty, lack of education etc etc - South Africa Suffers from a serious case of bad attitude.

We almost overnight went from being a nation of active people to a bunch of zombies waiting, screaming and marching demanding government do something for us.

Government is only there to insure the ideals the countries are built on are upheld.

Democracy is a state where teh population are an active contributers and not passive recipients.

But most of all most of all what our country needs - and any one, group or idea needs - is a leader... and there is where Africa is falling...

But this is just my opinion.

thank you for an amazing picture, this is what this is about secondly what are you doing to make this world cup a great one thirdly , If you do not see that Africa is moving forward i would like to let you know that it is.

everyone who will be here in 2010 is coming here to win and we are winners already see the truth there is abundance of everything.

you wouldn't feel as hopeful if you were navigating the trunches that are the Jhb CBD streets in peak traffic, what with all the roadworks -- it's murder!!

Bull's eye! My belief is not on 2010 but on people like you and Rudzani, with clear views, not blinded by patriotic ilusions or team building strategies that look more like a beer advert. You will be our future leaders. South African democracy is still an adolescent one, and as such an imature one. I still think that we are looking at the wrong place for inspiration - the western world has little to offer as models in which we can build our societies, we are worlds apart but still we keep on playing their game, probably for that same lack of independentleaders with vision and courage.

    @ Rudzani

Great photo, great commentary. Been trying to make an image of Green point Stadium that expresses my opinions for months. You've made it and my conscience is at ease, it's registered, and beautifully done. Bow.
