Holding on.......to the unnecessary...some burdens are to heavy to bear...!

Solitude is a great place to visit every now and then, making it a permanent place of residance yields folone and anguish. Let it all go,redemption and forgiveness are but a step away from guilt.

interesting. how did he feel about you taking this photograph?

  2. Nappy Head

This picture is deep. Chains, plastic, dirt, old clothes only a visible face and then the organised simplicity behind him. There is the recognisable human experience behind him. He is so unfamiliar to us that we forget his humanity. We forget his human experience. We forget that he too has his own ordinary.

  3. Sthe Ngcobo

I doubt he even noticed what I was doing.....he seemed too lost in his own wolrd....
    :-(

Very interesting...its always hard to be a photographer in a situation like this, since one puts personal feelings of pity and guilt before an artistic/storytelling eye.

  5. Sthe Ngcobo

Nappy Head...you can say that again, wish you could have seen the look on the woman in the background.....it was like seeing a child bein forcefed bitter medication....
@Jeff: As hard as it is......one can't help but take the pic hopping something will be done to eliviate such scenes/people.....!
I felt sorry for humanity when just before the world cup beggan, some provinces proposed that a wall be built around certain areas of this country to keep the world from seeing such shameful sights......!
Empathy is a word I'd use more than pity....pity feels like I am undermining another being...!

We are slaves trapped in our own Subconscious :(

@Sthe, this photowalk you done did by yourself is breath taking boss, maybe we joburg graphers should visit your hometown for a weekend. Yes/ No?

Ps: that is a hint to all that own cars or those who own a Quantum/ bus?...Lol

  7. Sthe Ngcobo

    :-)
I would be honoured to walk amongst you guys........!
Each town has it's own wonders, sad side, dark side and a world within aworld.....Depending on what you got your eyes set on,one can never see such even if it was right under his or her nose...!
I chose to forget the world I interact with daily and focussed on the unseen, the so called scum of the world, the beggers and homeless........!
I couldn't capture all that Iwanted to....pressure from the onlookers and hypocrytes......Planning on undertaking another one this weekend...maybe hit Durban aswell.....!

What I see in your picture and a call to sensibilities, for all of us about what surrounds us.
I believe the role of civil society to governments to all citizens of each country can have a decent life.
Martin Luther King, Jr. once said: I have a dream and that dream became a reality, and making use of his words, I believe the people with no voice, one day, their gain there dignity.
    I love you photo.

    this is nice,
would have been even more nicer had you tweaked the "depth-of-field" before you took it,
check this on how to do that. http://vimeo.com/11364221
