Who is "we"?
Who is "we"?
Every South African who still believes he/she belongs here without fear of being called naive or stupid for believing in a better tomorrow for all.
"We" as in everyone willing to put their differences and work together into making life more bearable.....but have their cultural demons, political demons and socio demons to deal with...!
So does "greatness" exclude everyone else?
Who is "everyone else"
:-D
*starts singing* everythang is everythang, after winter must come spring (^o^ )
Everyone else who might not believe they should belong anywhere, who sees the future as another today, with all that is good and bad. Everyone else that chooses when to put differences aside or when to confront them, when is possible to work together or when it is not and to respect those differences... sorry man, but your description sounds too much like a beer ad : (
heheheheheheheehe,I do not know if that is a good or bad thing( description sounding like a beer add)
Anyway, i put this up after having a heated debate yesterday with a friend of mine about certain things that are a burden on his mind and affects way of thinking. To him, everything in this country is about race, culture and our past.
That is how he approaches most problems and the results aren't positive at all times.....Putting differences aside or confronting them has to be for a good reason, not for the sake of making a point or statement.
I am not good at explaining myself, pardon me if i raise conflicting issues or if my description makes no sense.
There's a type of beer ad that shows a group of guys working together either to build an improvised air landing strip or to go against all odds and achieve the impossible, always with the smiles and cold beers at the end of the day with an african orange sunset. It's not the beer, it's the message...
I have a tendency to resist certain philosphies or frames of thought that rely on hope in the future to sustain themselves. I'd rather focus on today, on the present as I know it.
To a certain extent I might agree with your friend, although I refuse to generate judgements and opinions from narrow points of view, the truth is that you don't find a lot of people in South Africa who will even try to open up the debate , very quicly it will become racialized, culturalized or will find arguments in the recent past.
True.....!
Three topics to keep away from: Politics, Religion and Culture....!
I have been finding it hard to find open minded people to exchange views on these topics without making it a personal issue...!
Shot for that different approach into this....lesson learnt!
;-)
new growth -- thank you
