Civilisation is a farce — beneath all that intellectual babble we are raging (violent and sexual) beasts.

It reminds me of that TV ad about illiteracy. Something our country still suffers from quite a lot, what if he can't even read the sign.... *interesting thought*

    Good 1!

    What does the sign say?

KotnCandy, pardon me for not translating it,it say: no "Peeing" in that area!
Amanda,I doubt it's a mater of not knowing how to read, that area has toilets!!!!

What perplexes me are the reactions that this kind of behaviour elicits from women folk (particularly elderly women).

I often see women encourage (and aid and abet) their young children to urinate on the street when they are pressed. None of them ever teach their kids that it is unacceptable behaviour, but sometime in the future the very same women reprove this behaviour.

Is it acceptable from a child as opposed to a grown man?

Not at all.....in Zulu,we say: "lugotshwa lusemanzi" meaning, you instil good behavior onto a child while he's still young.
In the rurals where there're no sanitation aids, most people use the feld and most ealderly women think it's alright to encourage a child to let it go in public at any place.
