*FOAM – Mind Borders
I believe that people are entities surrounded by a mass of bubbles, a foam (thickness depending from individual to individual) individually created (through formal education, parents, family, environment, culture, media, etc) to protect us from the harsh terrain of reality as we float around in our padded cells.
Those bubbles are our “mind borders”, they give us a blurred vision of the “outside world” and they shape the way in which other people see us. They are formed, most times out of fear - of feeling exposed or of the ugliness of some realities – making us somewhat disconnected and unaware of our surroundings and the directions to choose.
When attraction occurs or paths cross and we come in contact with each other, we have a clash of bubbles, it can be soft and gentle or violent and sudden. It can allow some bubbles to pop in the process or it might quickly repel us from each other. A good example is prejudices (which we all have to some or less extent) and how they can be challenged in situations away from our comfort zones (traveling, clash of cultures, relationships).
If a constant clash of bubbles happens between two (or more) individuals without propelling them further away from each other then those mind borders can be remodeled or even destroyed allowing for the foams to come together and exposing and clarifying our “true nature”, making it more visible and less blurry.
It all depends on your capacity to thin down that protective skin, letting of your mind borders and face the challenges that come in your path in an open and giving way.
I'm still developing the concept...
