The form and ways of objects (for palapala)

The form and ways of objects (for palapala)

Dedicated to Palapala

Tirem-me os deuses

Em seu arbítrio

Superior e urdido às escondidas

O Amor, glória e riqueza.

Tirem, mas deixem-me,

Deixem-me apenas

A consciência lúcida e solene

Das coisas e dos seres.

Pouco me importa

Amor ou glória,

A riqueza é um metal, a glória é um eco

E o amor uma sombra.

Mas a concisa

Atenção dada

Às formas e às maneiras dos objetos

Tem abrigo seguro.

Seus fundamentos

São todo o mundo,

Seu amor é o plácido Universo,

Sua riqueza a vida.

A sua glória

É a suprema

Certeza da solene e clara posse

Das formas dos objetos.

O resto passa,

E teme a morte.

Só nada teme ou sofre a visão clara

E inútil do Universo.

Essa a si basta,

Nada deseja

Salvo o orgulho de ver sempre claro

Até deixar de ver.

Ricardo Reis (Fernando Pessoa)

Translation:

“Take from me the gods

With their free will

Superior and hidden warping

The love, glory and wealth

Take, but leave me,

Leave me only

The lucid and solemn conscience

Of the things and beings

Couldn’t care less about

Love or glory

Wealth is a metal, glory is an echo

And love a shadow.

But the concise

Attention given

To the form and ways of objects

Has safe keeping

Its fundaments

Are the whole world

Its love is the placid Universe

Its wealth life

Its glory

Is the supreme

Certainty of the solemn and clear possession

Of the forms of objects

Everything else fades away

And fears death.

Only nothing fears or suffers the clear

And useless vision of the Universe.

That is enough in itself

Nothing wishes

But the pride of seeing always clear

Until it can't see anymore.”

  2. Palapala

Up, I was super pleased with your dedication to me.
Especially with a verse of Fernando Pessoa.
The photography i liked a lot, but without understanding how they were made of such effects.
    Say alo to everybody.

  3. cazpix

    @ Palapala:

There are no effects on the photo, only adjusted brightness and contrast very slightly. It's an early morning image of a metal gate to a night club on Long Street, on the right is the stone wall cladding and behind the gate there's another metal grid on top of a blue painted wall, it's just the way the sun hits all these elements. It's funny how the gate moves if you scroll the image up and down...

the movement with the scrolling is a trip. nice image.
