74 (Independence)

74 (Independence)

1974 was an important year for any former portuguese colony, on the 25th of April the portuguese military staged a non-violent coup (no shots were fired), known as the carnation revolution, which overthrew the right wing dictatorial government leading to the end of the colonial wars in Angola, Mozambique, Guine Bissau and to their independence.

This image made me think about these events, not only becuse fo the 74 but also because of the wooden sculptures hanging out of the veranda on the reflection.

I liked your picture is beautiful.
74 reminded me a whole expectation that independence would bring us, our general freedoms and, in fact a dictatorship replaces another,. That is fascism by conunismo.
A disillusion the whole expectation. Fortunately times have changed, it is not ideal but better.
