“To be natural is such a very difficult pose to keep up.”
Oscar Wilde

very difficult
@ LN. It's funny. The real is the now, the experience of the present. Though a photograph may suspend the moment, it cannot possibly suspend the real. A photograph is an unreal and incomplete break in the temporal plane. Right now, as I sit alone in my room, none of you are real. None of this is real. How then, does one constitute the real in any other form than it's natural occurrence?
We must look at representations of the real, or the real re-imagined. Perhaps the dilemma is solved there.
Nice framing. It makes me ask a lot of questions.
… hmmm, well I wasn't going that far deep.
I was, as it were asking a question I have been asking myself since my first years (1996) at wits, when I stumbled into philosophy.
Its not the kinda ppl up in there fakin the poses and all.
Hehe. Any closer to answering that question now, than when U first started?
Not close, but Jeff's answer is generally what most people respond as.
Well, the question arose, when I used to do frequent a movement called: Toolshed (a poetry/spoken-word thing magic), my question was based on an observation: … there is a specific 'look and appearance' that everybody who was performing had. So, I asked the question:
… would a blonde-hair-weave wearing, red-heels, mini-skirt and tank-top to match woman be allowed (or rather accepted) to recite some poetry?"
The question was met with laughter and a modest answer of 'Yes', but generally the answer was, "she ain't real."
and this 'realness', is generally given to those who are not in the corridors of money and power (or obsessed by both or either), but those who lack either one or both, hence I am asking why these 'women' in this photograph appear more 'real' than everybody else?
… alas, it's still all ramblings of a philosophy scholar.
Hmmm... I thought all the people in my photos were real...
As for the real being the now... Is it really? As I write this the now before the question mark is gone, it's not the now anymore...so...is it real?
