They strike, we walk...

They strike, we walk...

On Wednesday, 1 December 2010, Western Cape Metrorail drivers and staff went on an unannounced strike "brought on by a labour dispute, with unions claiming workers are being forced to work longer hours as well as weekends."

Matrique students were writing a geography exam that morning, which had to be delayed due to the strike. The  most affected, as usual, are the poorest and probably this will have a negative impact on their marks.

This is dangerous terrain to walk, as much as we must fight for our rights and demand better working conditions, we can't act irresponsibly and threaten our children's future.
