Why is the colour so vivid in the front and almost blk and white in the background?

@onelove: I desaturated the blue, orange, magenta and purple channels, it interfered with the focus I intended on the saturated elements in the image,normally I would deaturate the whole image as I like to see the concrete and tarmac in black and white but the red shirt, green trees needed colour so I went for a compromise , don't usually do this but I felt like experimenting and give it time to evaluate if it's an effect to repeat or just a once off situation...
