    what then happens?

My train started moving and probably the men with no ticket stayed locked for a few hours in this improvised cell or otherwise had to pay the fine which is about R40.

Nowhere in their travel information document they say security is allowed to lock anyone up. I always feel that Metrorail security usually uses the ticket checking as a vulgar display of power with brute force being used too often, especially on black and poor foreigners, which are normally the majority that travels without tickets...

When it comes to ticket checking, fines and access control the metrorail staff is present in numbers and work hard and efficiently but if the trains are late or stuck somewhere between stations and people have to jump out and run on the rail lines (which happens often) there is no help form security to ensure the people's safety.

That's besides the bad examples they give by crossing the lines between platforms and the bullying. On Thursday this old security guy started picking on these two men for no reason, he threatened the younger one and was just looking for an excuse to use violence, he slapped his hand and this cup full of coins fell off his hand onto the floor, only afterwards I realized that the second (older) man was blind and they were both begging for money.
