Image Preservation

an article.

I am pretty sure you have noted that almost each photograph now shows what time and what camera was used to capture the photograph with.  Although in some cases it does not show.

This has to do with how the photograph was saved, and if you are like me, you would use Adobe Photoshop to resize, crop, manipulate, 'edit' the photograph before you upload it.

That is all well and dandy, but just sometimes, that 'camera data' can get lost depending on how you save the file after 'editing'.  So, if you want to preserve the 'camera data', make sure you use 'save as' instead of 'save for web'.  That will ensure the data is preserved.

There is actually a whole lot of information saved there, as in the iso speed, the focal length, if flash was used, what software was used to transfer the file, essentially almost all the settings on your camera as you capture the photograph.

I am not quite sure what value this information has, but I suppose prevention is better than cure.
