Did you know that in most African languages, the number four is pronounced the same and probably spelt the same, as in 'Nne'? Awesome me, thinks.
Soooo, I think, this omega version has run long enough, it's time to start working or rather planning for Gamma, the fourth rendition (or version) of this here project, agree?
I was planning to do gamma, around February 2008, but then I realised, one is more flexible when small, as in not a monolithic-corporation, gotta move like guerilla warfare.
Anyway, here is what I have plans for:
- Wide-screen. I think the photograph's need to get bigger (size matters), the other reason is that, the stuff on the right (although important) take the shine away from the photograph, the photograph is the star, right?
- Messaging. I think, some relations are being formed around here, and as things are, there is no direct way to speak to someone for what ever reason you might have. So I will build for that, just have to make sure, nobody be stalking anybody, nahmean?
- Tagging. I think tagging is key to the evolution of this project, it's not a requirement but I think it should be, so it will be enforced visually that is, nobody is going to get coerced to do anything.
- UI. A redesign is in order to allow for the wide-screen, and to clean up the messy 'blog' and the untidy 'upload', and profile management pages. There will also be quite a bit of AJAX based real-time updates, the refresh button will refresh on it's own, it will also tell you if new stuff that happened whilst you were logged in and whilst you were away (as in logged off). I am also working on a way of selecting the photographs you want to view, put them in 'box' (so to speak) and go through them one by one, I think that makes sense.
- Love, is actually everywhere. It's official the 'Books' idea is gone, but I think something can be done with the 'Love' to auto-populate the books, if that makes sense.
- Knowledge base. The collective is also more powerful than the individual (true for good and bad things, though). So, I will be opening up another section called, Knowledge Sharing so we can all share whatever it is that is interesting, focus being photography. I want it separate from this journal, because well the journal is about 75 and updates. I like separating things, it's how I are.
- API. Application Programme Interface. What? In not so geeky talk, it means, one should be able to use 75 everywhere else, e.g: on your own website, your own blog or whatever. You could show the photographs you love (assuming they are not copyrighted) or your own photographs, or a specific set of photographs (which is where tagging becomes key).
- Sell-out? Hmm, err, err, I was thinking, somebody might want to buy photographs, or rather, order prints of them? If you are a 'grapher would you want to sell your photographs? Would anybody be willing to buy? (the floor is yours comrades).
- News letters. Just to clear the air, I am not a fan of emailing people 'nje, so, rest assured that, you are not going to get some generic email from 75 saying this or that, all email from 75 you would have solicited, e.g resetting the password. I believe if you want to stay upto date with 75, then come on down and check it out, simple as that. I don't have to keep lambasting (ah, BEE talk) your mail box, just so you can come here, nah, I don't think that be kewl, plus, I am not supposed to know your email address, ;-)
I think that gotta do it,,, If you got any other ideas, holla back: hello[at]75.co.za
I am dead sure, y'all gotta better ideas than I do, sharing is caring.
