Welcome to the new year — 2011 (some have called it: twenty and heaven) — I know it's a month and 5 days old; but I wanted to sync this post with new updates to the site. So, with that joyous celebration here is what I have worked on:
Themes: I have now added the themes to the backend of the site — St Valentine's Day theme is an example — I am hoping no themes will run concurrently: it don't make sense. I am also two-ways about re-archiving older themes we ran, what you guys think? I am also not very happy with the look of the themes pages, but time is an assert I don't have in abundance.
Exhibitions — I have finished the development part of this: I am yet to activate it on the site: it needs a little bit of treating — but I suspect it will look like the themes page.
I have done minor fixes here and there: the rss feeds now pull bigger images: which I think should make them much prettier to go through;
I have also re-engineered the journal's URL: it now includes the day, month and year;
I have removed some redundancy with regards to the /tag url — that is no longer there, but it is backward compatible;
I think also the profile page has been updated so you can see replies to comments you have made across the site (sans the themes *face-palm*).
Profile Deleting: I have finished this part — I am still waiting to finish the exhibition part, then I'll activate it: my thinking is: if you can get in; you should be able to get out.
I have removed the twitter thing on the journal — I don't think it made sense any more;
I advise you if you are on twitter please set your twitter id — it will be used in the next back-end update (so when 75 tweets about a posted 'graph, it will credit the you)
That should be the greater part of what has been done — now what else is to be done:
JHB Exbhibition (19th April): I/We (with Matt) are still going through a list of venues to check out — if you have ideas on where we could host this exhibition please do share (if you are a random visitor and you own or have access to space please hit me off hello(at)75.co.za). The deadline to find a venue is end of February; I will try to get the site to represent the discussions around the exhibitions, so we can discuss this further.
Cape Town Exhibition: I agree with the notion that we should have two exhibitions – one in JHB (the annual) then CPT for the 'theme base' (or rather within a creative context based) exhibition — your thoughts?
Books: Well, the first book is supposed to be done at the same time as the JHB — but we will see.
Studio — I am hoping Jeff will lend us his once and every while: at the least we should be able to use the studio to discuss, share, exchange and engage ideas over tea, coffee or beer ;-). I am hoping Cape Town will mobilise something similar?
Calendars: I am working with PetrolBOMB to create the first batch of Calendars, I was hoping to have a few ready by begining of February: but my creative-critique bar is way-way-too-high: my thinking is that the calendar should be worthy of being bought. Anybody know where we can print 'em: please do share;
Shop Selling: this is an ever running idea — Cazpix reinvigorated the idea when she said "she wants to print her photographs when she reaches 75" — so I am thinking instead of just selling one graph at a time: we could allow for a person to compile a collection into a book and buy that instead — this is a very, young idea so your thoughts are needed into getting this done.
What else is there? Did I miss something? Let me know — especially if things break.
