How often do we step outside of ourselves? photographs help, but in realtime it is hard. The few times i got it right i had a giddy sensation of omnisience, omnipotence.
I think we are afraid of ourselves. Mandela said so (guess he had a bit of time to think about it, huh). I even venture to say that we hide behind cameras when we can, and perform for them the rest of the time (eyes are cameras).
