On Thursday the 16th of February the five young artists selected as part of ARTCONNECT will present their second public presentation at Santarama Miniland just south of the city centre. Sikhumbuzo Makandula, Fulufhelo Mobadi, Naadira Patel, Zakara Raitt & Victoria Wigzell will intervene in the maquette version of Johannesburg as preparation for the consolidation of their individual projects that will be shown across Gauteng at the end of the month. Drawing on their own practice and interrogating the imagined and idealized South Africa represented in Miniland, the artists will attempt to further understand process, negotiating the city and how artists place themselves outside, within and around the imagined city-scape.

VANSA invites you to join us for an evening of reflection and discussion on the project. Two taxis will transport the first 32 guests from VANSA's space to Miniland, where hamburgers, chips and soft drinks will be on sale. The 32 people transported by taxi will get into Miniland for free. The entrance fee for everyone else is R35 per person and goes directly to Miniland, contributing to their tuberculosis charity. The taxis will leave at 18h15 and those travelling by themselves can find directions here.
