How to blend in 101

How to blend in 101

1. Eat the local delicacy

This red, bean-shaped fruit with a black eye is called Tihuhlu, produced by the Nkuhlu tree.

It has a white, pasty flesh (pulp) that is edible (doesn't really have a particular taste; it's neither sweet nor sour).

The locals stuff a whole lot of these into the cheeks and let the saliva soften the fruit.

They slowly suck out the pulp, and then spit out the red peels and the black eye/core/nut.

    lovely shot.
i'm just wondering why the locals soften the fruits to suck the pulp if it don't have a particular taste.
maybe it's the activity of it all.

@Ngujaz - i guess it must be tasty for them.
And also the "hanging-out-ness" of the activity.
personally, i can't be asked to eat them. I'd much rather pick and wash for others to eat.
