1. Eat the local delicacy
This red, bean-shaped fruit with a black eye is called Tihuhlu, produced by the Nkuhlu tree.
It has a white, pasty flesh (pulp) that is edible (doesn't really have a particular taste; it's neither sweet nor sour).
The locals stuff a whole lot of these into the cheeks and let the saliva soften the fruit.
They slowly suck out the pulp, and then spit out the red peels and the black eye/core/nut.
