nina+1 --- thanks for link --- now I know not what to listen to, and what to avoid --- ouch, my mind is numb --- I drew a blank as I went through that site.

    I got lost at 'dem-'.

*was 'bout to go on an on about hiphop in South/Africa --- but nah, I light a cigarette, blaze the new Roots album and be happy.

  8. tebogo motea

heard one of them crack boys track was quite impressed with quality of sound and production at this rate weather you dig or not Hip Hop down here in Africa is on the rise, one thing though somebody should find a way to make the money.

am feeling Questa at the moment hes too nice.

  9. lebogang nkoane

"make money"? I'd say "make (good) music".

In fact I heard Amu (I don't what he calls himself these days) say: the problem with hiphop is South/Africa is that the artists, are neglecting the 'heads' --- instead they are focused on 'mass appeal' --- which itself it means the people that understand what hiphop is, are not catered for --- which then means the art-form can't grow, because well, music, grows from people who are in the 'genre' influencing the perception of those who are not in that genre, as in understanding what the message (we hope) and sound is all bout.

I think, that's the smartest thing a m'rapper has ever said --- in simply business sense: without a product that people need (even though they might not know they do e.g: ipod) there is nothing to sell, ipso-facto (psuedo-latin), no 'money making'.

    @ Twiggle
i hear you! i also thought that was unprofessional of him...

but you would think with 9 of them on stage, they would've said something!

I couldnt help but laugh at how Ozmik (the host) just grabs the mic out of Cash's hand and assists them off stage!

    @Tebogo i saw the DVD
    SMH @ the content
but the quality is definitely good

wait, wait, wait, wait, wait a-minute.

one of dem-(insert weapon of choice)-boys' name is 'Cash'?

    (t)(inately) SHM. *tsk, tsk, tsk.

at nina+1/twiggle: I support what Tumi did --- but I couldn't hear what is argument was, it sounded like: "y'all ain't about to perform that [diss record] tonight, especially tonight, you can perform it any other given night, but not tonight"

So, was he referring to the 'out of context' (read: lack of timing) of the track that dem-(insert weapon of choice)-boys was performing was in contradiction to the message of the event?

*scratches head, but there is no way I'm going back to that site and listen to their music(k)

    nina sum1

    ^ ^ ^
    Yep Cash!

thats very true! i dont understand how they thought they were gonna get away with rapping a track where they diss POC/Zuluboy/Zubz/True Sense etc.

(What they were rapping about totally contradicted what the event was bout ie: Anti violence!)

    !

  11. tebogo motea

havent seen the dvd yet and it was the first time i heard about these boys on radio when they played their track infact i had no clue that they were even local, well they their style of music is def South Rap and they probably worship Dem Franchise Boys all i thought was i heard a relative nicely produced song which could share a stage with Lil somthing or Big that, weather i like their music is another thing on its own.
