    @ Jeff: I would really appreciate if you could explain what you mean by a "mathematical interpretation".
    I do photography (and everything else as a matter of fact) mostly led by instinct, although informed by technical and intelectual choices which I try to keep at a subconscious level (experience plays a big part in this), so it's through these comments that I "unlock" some part of this process for my own understanding in order to fine tune it.
